Funding and promotion
My virtual reality recording studio has been a self-funded passion project from day one. While the creative rewards have been immense, limited funding has restricted how much consistent development time I could invest. Although interest from others has been strong, financial support has yet to materialize.
To do this, I started to get the views so I need to get more attention to the work I do. When the studio was working, I made a video showing the VR setup. The video is shown above, but I wanted to show more. So after releasing these videos, I decided to make another one.
Updating the studio
I have rebuilding the entire Virtual Reality Recording Studio from the ground up using the latest versions of Unity3D and Blender 3D. The previous version was all made in Unity. The goal is full compatibility with modern XR/VR headsets and a unified user interface across all platforms.
I’m also expanding the audio processing engine I wrote—previously a mix of C++ and the Unity Audiomixer—I expanded parts in C# to get more possibilities, but still used C++ parts (open source stuff) for processing power. This upgrade not only unlocked more creative possibilities but also makes the development process smoother, faster, and more scalable.
To demonstrate what was already possible in the virtual studio, I recorded a quick video where I mixed Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” using multitrack stems I found online. It was both a test and a creative challenge, as not all features were fully functional at the time. Despite that, the process was a lot of fun—and the video continues to attract views and generate comments from curious viewers and audio enthusiasts alike.
Despite major progress, development paused in mid-2019 as I focused on paid work in video production and photography. Personal projects like this VR studio remain a deep passion, and I continue to push forward whenever time allows.
