now with sim rig

While developing an XR application, you need to get in and out of XR /VR quite often. And this can be quite bothersome. Headset off, headset on. Cables twisted, HMD powered down or sleep mode. Steam VR not running. Unity3d Crashing when it does. etc. Having a flip up headset might fix some of the issues but not all.

For that reason alone I decided to try the XR interaction rig in the VR framework (Bearded Ninja games VR interaction framework) I’m using.
This works quite well. You can use mouse and keyboard to control your character and do a quick check. Not having to jump back into VR each time you want to have a quick check saves a lot of time. I don’t have to boot, adjust and mount my headset (valve HTC Vive or my Oculus Rift OG) every time I jump in.

No VR no problem

This also means the recording studio can be operated (with limits) by people without XR or VR.
Something I have to look into more closely in the future, as this could expand the audience quite a bit.
