"Some of you signed up years ago, when this was little more than a proof of concept and a very ambitious idea. Others found their way here more recently. Either way — thank you."
I know updates have been sparse. Months would pass without a word, and if you ever wondered whether the project was still alive — I completely understand. Retro Recordings XR is, and always has been, a passion project. Something I build in the hours that are left after work, on weekends, and sometimes late at night when the house is quiet.
That's not an excuse. It's just context. The vision never changed.

What changed
Things are moving faster now
Over the past few months, something shifted. AI tools have become a genuine part of how I build — not to replace the creative decisions, but to close the gap between an idea and a working feature. Systems I would have spent weeks on now take days. Bugs that used to block me for a weekend get resolved in an evening.
It's also made it much easier to document and share what's happening. The devlog is getting regular entries. The site has grown into something I'm actually proud of. And the pace of actual studio features — automation, console interaction, the signal chain — has noticeably picked up.

For the audio nerds
A growing archive of studio history
Every console in the virtual studio started as a deep-dive into its history. That research is now published — consoles, microphones, tape machines, and the iconic rooms where it all happened.

What's ahead
Early Access is the goal
The plan is to bring Retro Recordings XR to Steam Early Access. Before that happens, I want to do one more beta round — a chance for people who've been following this from the beginning to get inside the studio, push the faders, and tell me what's missing.
You'll hear about that here first. If you have thoughts, wishes, or things you'd like to see in the studio — I genuinely want to know. Just reply to this email. I read everything.

Thank you for sticking around. Whether you signed up all the way back in 2016 or last week, the fact that you're still here means something.
Enjoy Fader Friday — and check my socials regularly for posts between newsletters.
The red light is on. The tape is rolling.
