Hand-built late-period Raindirk Discoteste, Lisbon First Portuguese digital multitrack install Philip Newell acoustic design

The Symphony was Raindirk's late-period flagship — a full-size professional recording console carrying the hand-built philosophy into the automation era. A Symphony was installed at Discoteste (Estúdio de Gravações e Edições Musicais) in Lisbon, where it became Portugal's first-ever digital multitrack installation and anchored productions across Iberian pop, folk and film scoring. Studio Sound's 1992 feature "A Letter from Lisbon" documented the Symphony in place at Discoteste with its wood-panelled control room and Philip Newell acoustic design.
