Transformer-coupled inputs Distinctive coloured capsheads Trident commercial flagship Late-1970s 24-track era

The TSM — Trident Studio Monitor — was the company's large-format commercial flagship of the late 1970s. A sophisticated in-line desk with transformer-coupled inputs and an EQ section designed for the dense multi-track productions that studios were undertaking as 24-track became the professional standard. The TSM's distinctive coloured capsheads — yellow, red, white, green — made it instantly recognisable from across the room. It was installed at several major UK studios alongside A-Ranges, and its survival rate is considerably better than the hand-wired custom desks it followed.
