Non-Environment Control Room System
1971 – 1990s
Not a console — the product Westlake Audio actually sold was the room itself. The Non-Environment system was a complete acoustic treatment and monitoring package: soffit-mounted HR-1 monitors as the infinite-baffle front wall, maximum absorption behind the listening position, bass trapping at all low-frequency reflection points, and the written acoustical performance guarantee that specified the results in measurable terms. Among the rooms built to this specification: The Manor Studios (UK), Mountain Studios Montreux, The Townhouse London. By the 1980s Westlake claimed hundreds of installations worldwide.
